BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas men's basketball team was unable to overcome a double-digit deficit as they fell to ETBU 98-90 on Saturday afternoon.
The Tornados got off to a hot start, beginning the game on a 9-0 run after a Joe Neal free throw. The Tigers would go on their own 12-2 run to take their first lead of the game with just over 14 minutes left in the half. ETBU maintained their lead throughout the rest of the half and hit a buzzer-beating three to take a 51-43 halftime lead. Rashad Coleman had 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting, but CTX only shot 1-of-8 from behind the arc.
The Tigers began the second half on an 8-3 run and took their biggest lead of the game at 61-46 with 17:47 left to play. The deficit remained around 10 points for the Tornados, unable to make it a single-digit game for the next 10 minutes, but with 2:17 left in the game, CTX's Philip Meikle's layup cut the lead to six at 85-79. The Tornados went to the foul game to try and make it a one possession game, but were only able to make it 90-85 after Neal's layup and fell 98-90 to ETBU.
Coleman finished the game with 23 points and six rebounds, while Neal had 15 second-half points to finish with 21 and seven boards. CTX was without ASC West Player of the Week Ephriam Price for most of the second half after leaving with an injury four minutes into the second half.
