BOX SCORE RICHARDSON, Texas -- The Concordia Texas men's basketball squad had to come-from-behind late in its 81-76 triumph at UT Dallas 81-76 on Wednesday night.
The Comets (1-6, 1-1 ASC) led 76-74 with just under three minutes left in the game, but a three-pointer by Samuels gave CTX a lead they would not relinquish as they would go on to win 81-76.
Three Tornados finished in double figures, led by Ephriam Price and Joshua Samuels, who had 25 and 22 points, respectfully. Joe Neal struggled offensively all night, but led the team with eight rebounds and six assists. The contest was back-and-forth as the score was tied 11 times and had 11 lead changes.
In the first half, the Comets took an early 4-0 lead before CTX came back to tie it up at 10-all with just under 16 minutes left in the half. Tied at 19-all, the Tornados ran off nine straight points after a Price three-pointer to take its biggest lead of the night. The Comets rallied to tie it back up at 34 and took the lead in the final minute to take a halftime lead of 43-42 over CTX.
In the second half, the score remained close with neither team able to maintain a lead. UTD would take its largest lead of the night after a Jon Hatcher free-throw to lead 60-55 with just under 10 minutes remaining the game. The Tornados responded by going on a 10-2 run to take back the lead.
The win wraps up a two-game road trip for the Tornados as they moved to 7-3 on the season and now 2-0 in conference play. CTX returns home on Dec. 17, when they will face East Texas Baptist in a rematch of a contest that the Tigers won 100-96 in Marshall.
