Second-half outburst leads Tornados past Louisiana College

BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia men's basketball team scored 57 points in the second half on their way to a 96-81 victory over Louisiana College Monday night.
 
Ephriam Price had a game-high 25 points for the Tornados (10-5, 4-2 ASC), as three different players finished with 20 or more points. Joe Neal recorded his second double-double of the season finishing with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Joshua Samuels made six threes on his way to 20 points. CTX was everywhere defensively as they totaled 13 steals and forced the Wildcats (2-10, 0-7 ASC) to commit 20 turnovers.
 
The first half was a tight contest as the teams went back and forth and the Tornados held a 12-10 lead with 13:02 left. CTX took their biggest lead of the first half leading 26-19 with 7:30 left, but LC responded with a 9-0 run to lead 28-26 with under five minutes to play in the half. The Tornados retook the lead late in the first half after a Samuels three and a Neal layup and headed to the locker room up 39-36. CTX shot 45 percent from the field in the half, but made nine threes, including four by Samuels.
 
The Tornados began the second half on 16-8 run to take their largest lead of the game capped by a Price three-pointer, his third in a three-minute span and led 55-44 with 17:02 left. The Wildcats cut the deficit down to five though with 11:12 left in the second half as CTX led 66-61. The Tornados would expand their lead with a 13-2 run led by another three Samuels to lead 79-63 with 8:01 left. CTX had their largest lead of the game at 94-73 after a Payton Barnes three and went on to win 96-81. 

Points off turnovers were the key in the second half for the Tornados as they had an 18-3 advantage, while outscoring LC's bench 25-15. Price had 16 of his 25 points in the second half.
 
CTX will return home after going 2-1 on their three-game road trip and will face Mary-Hardin Baylor in Concordia Fieldhouse on Saturday at 3 p.m.
