BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas - Six Tornados reached double figure scoring for the Concordia Texas men's basketball team in a 86-80 victory over Texas Lutheran University. Freshman guard
Jaylon Johnson led all scorers with 20 points inside the CTX Fieldhouse on Thursday.
It was an action-packed first half that featured  half 16 lead changes and nine ties. The Tornados claimed their first lead of the game at 16-14 when a driving Colby Kalbacher fed Deon Williams inside the paint for a dunk midway through the first. With both teams trading baskets, Donovan Stafford knocked down a pair of free throws right before half to help CTX take a 37-36 lead into the intermission.Â
The Tornados led by two points early in the second half, when they gained separation with a 10-2 burst highlighted by Branden Myart feeding Antoine Henderson for a fast break dunk.Â
Concordia's advantage reached as much as 12 points at the 11:25 mark. The Bulldogs battled back to make it a 67-66 game with just over eight minutes left, but the Tornados would not relinquish the lead to hold on for their fourth consecutive victory.
Concordia Texas will next return to conference play as they travel to Richardson, TX to take on UT-Dallas on January 5th. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
