DALLAS, Texas – In a season where the Tornados once again reached the ASC Tournament, three members of the Concordia Texas men's basketball team have been selected to ASC All-Conference Teams. Donovan Stafford, DJ Pigford & Corey Thompson were all recognized by the American Southwest Conference, the league's office announced on Wednesday.

Stafford, a junior out of Glenn Heights, Texas, was named to the All-ASC Second Team. The guard started in all 26 games for the Tornados and was on a scoring tear all season as his 21.5 points per game ranked fourth in the conference. He poured in 560 points this season and became a member of the 1,000-point club on February 10th at UT-Dallas. Twice this season, he notched his career-high in points with 38 against Howard Payne of Feb. 1st and against McMurry on February 17th.

Proving to be an efficient scorer, he ranked 10th in the league with a 46.8 field goal percentage. He also led the team with 162 (6.2 per game) total rebounds, 145 free throw attempts and 46 assists on 32.4 minutes per game. This is his third straight year receiving honors from the conference as he was named to Honorable Mention Team in 2022-23 and the All-Freshman Team in 2021-22.

Pigford, a junior from Grand Prairie, Texas, was deemed as an ASC Honorable Mention. Although he only saw action in 14 games, the guard made his presence felt. He was second on the team and 11th in the conference with 16.1 points per game. Pigford showed a versatile game this season as he averaged 4.1 rebounds per game and led CTX with 1.8 steals per game and 2.5 assists per game.

He reached the 20-point mark four times this season, including a 36-point clinic in a win over Hardin-Simmons on January 13th. This is Pigford's second postseason award from the ASC as he was named to the All-Freshman Team in the 2021-22 season.

Thompson, a guard from Missouri City, Texas, was listed to the ASC All-Freshman Team. The rookie gradually saw his minutes increase throughout the season as he became a key member off the bench during conference play. Thompson was a playmaker that produced 9.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game in 17.6 minutes of action.

He shot the three-ball at 32.4 percent clip and added 1.6 assists per game as well. He reached double-figure scoring 10 times in 2023-24, including six straight games on double-digit scoring during conference play.
