IRVING, Texas - Four members of the Concordia Texas men's basketball team was deemed to the SCAC All-Conference Teams.
Joey Ramirez,
Donovan Stafford,
Adolfo Martinez, &
Aaron San Miguel were all recognized by the league on Saturday.
Ramirez, a standout transfer from Weimer, Texas, was named a member to the All-SCAC First Team. Ramirez led the Tornados with 18.3 ppg (third in the SCAC) and 7.6 rpg (fifth in the SCAC).
Appearing and starting in all 26 games this season, Ramirez scored in double figures in all but two games. He scored a career-high 41 points on the road at Centenary, which marked the most by a Tornado in nine years. He also earned a
SCAC Player of the Week nod when he averaged 27.7 ppg and 7.3 rpg after leading CTX to a 3-0 week in Febraury.
Stafford, a senior guard from Glenn Heights, Texas, was named to the All-SCAC Third Team. Also appearing in all 26 games, Stafford etched a role as the best sixth man in the conference as he brought a scoring punch (14.8 ppg) off the bench. He led the Tornados in minutes per game (26.7) & free throws made and attempted (89-114).
Going on a scoring tear to end the season, Stafford scored in double-figures in 16 of the final 18 games. He poured in a season-high 27 points twice, against Southwestern Adventist & Southern Maine where he posted a double-double with 10 boards. With his career at a close, Stafford has finished seventh all-time in career points scored (1,483).
Martinez, a senior guard from Plainview, Texas, earned a spot on the All-SCAC Honorable Mention Team. Proving to be a long-distance sniper, Martinez led the Tornados from the three (49-145, 33.8%).
His season-high in points was 15 and came in back-to-back games against Schriner & Trinity where all his made field goals were threes.
San Miguel, a San Antonio native, was also named to the All-SCAC Honorable Mention Team. He took control as the starting point guard for the Tornados this season, starting in 25 of 26 appearances.
Miguel led the Tornados with 92 total assists (3.5 per game) & was fifth in the conference. Showing his range in all facets of the game, he also averaged 9.0 ppg & 2.5 rbg. He tallied a career-highs of 29 points in the win over Austin College and eight assists in the win over Schreiner this season.
