Franz, the SCAC Pitcher of the Year, was the first Tornado to win conference Pitcher of the Year sinceÂ
Matthew Williams in 2019. The graduate left-hander from Austin, Texas, led the SCAC in wins (9), earned run average (3.01), shutouts (2), innings pitched (95.2), opponents' batting average (.237) and was fourth in strikeouts (67). He also led the league in WHIP (wins + hits divided by innings pitched) at 1.10 after allowing just 83 hits and 22 walks.
Franz was a two-time SCAC Pitcher-of-the-Week and two-timeÂ
D3baseball.com national Team-of-the-Week honoree during the regular season, including in Week 5 when he allowed just three hits with no walks while striking out eight in an eight-inning, complete game shutout victory over Southwestern. Completing his historic career, Franz became the program's all-time lead in strikeouts (297) and innings pitched (332.1)
Christian, a powerhouse for Porter, Texas, proved to be one of the nation's most productive hitters as he led the conference with 66 RBIs, 16 homeruns, and 126 total bases. Christian has recorded two-plus RBIs in 20 contests. Christian's 66 RBIs ranks as the most in program history since the Tornados joined Division III.
The other half of the two-headed monster of the starting pitcher duo was Palmer, a redshirt senior out of Needville, Texas. Tallying eight wins (second most in the SCAC this season), Palmer ranked ranked first in the conference with 82 strikeouts. He also boasted an 3.65 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP.Â
Palmer was named to the D3baseball.com national Team-of-the-Week in late February where earned his first win of the season with a three-strikeout, 0.00 ERA (.86 WHIP) outing against Howard Payne. In a mid-March matchup against the Ozarks, Palmer connected on a career-best and conference-high 12 strikeouts.Â
Providing an offensive punch in the top of the line up was Clark, the Tornados' first baseman. Making the switch from outfield to first base full-time in the offseason was a seemless fit for the senior out of Coppell, Texas.
Clark leads the SCAC with 19 doubles & is tied for second on the team and fifth in the conference with nine homeruns. He was also named the SCAC Hitter of the Week for his performance against Austin College where he Clark posted team-highs of seven runs, six RBIs, six hits, two doubles, and two homeruns in the series.
His partner on the right side of the infield inÂ
Aaron Gomez was also a model of consistency. One of the most disciplined hitters in the conference, Gomez has tallied a robust 33 walks this season.
Gomez also ranked fifth in the conference with a .520 on-base percentage. In game one of the series with Texas Lutheran, Gomez made history as he tied the program's record for most doubles in a single game with three.Â
Seigrist, the leadoff playmaker from Beaumont, Texas, was one of the most feared hitters in the conference. Batting over .400 for the majority of the season, he also provided power as he batted for the second most homeruns this season with 10.
Joining Franz & Palmer as a member of theÂ
D3baseball.com national Team-of-the-Week back in March, Seigrist made history with the program's first ever cycle in a 15-14 victory over DeSales, including the go-ahead two-RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth.
Wallace III served as the closer in tight games for the Tornados this season. With one of the strongest arms in the SCAC, Wallace was sent in to close the door in crunch time.Â
He tallied seven saves; which is the second most in the SCAC this season and the second most by a Tornado in a single season. Wallace also boasted numbers of a 1.88 ERA & 8.25 K/9. Showing poise, Wallace also has recorded four wins (two in the Bridgewater Regional of the NCAA Tournament).
