AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia Texas starting pitcher Otto Franz has been named as a ABCA/Rawlings Fourth Team All-American & a D3Baseball.com Fifth Team All-American, the organizations announced on Wednesday.

Franz is the eighth ever Tornado to earn the honor of D3Baseball.com All-American & the first since 2019 (Calvin Bush & Matthew Williams). He is only the third Tornado to be announced as an ABCA All-American, joining Cameron Cox (2015) & Lane Hobbs (2016). Franz is also only the Third Tornado to be named an unanimous All-American by both organizations alongside Cox & Hobbs.

Franz, the SCAC Pitcher of the Year, was the first Tornado to win conference Pitcher of the Year since Williams in 2019. The graduate left-hander from Austin, Texas, led the SCAC in wins (9), earned run average (3.01), shutouts (2), innings pitched (95.2), opponents' batting average (.237) and was fourth in strikeouts (67).

He also led the league in WHIP (wins + hits divided by innings pitched) at 1.10 after allowing just 83 hits and 22 walks. His 95.2 innings pitched this season was the second most by an All-American; only behind Jason Gilman, who was selected as the D3Baseball.com Pitcher of the Year.

Franz was a two-time SCAC Pitcher-of-the-Week and two-time D3baseball.com national Team-of-the-Week honoree during the regular season, including in Week 5 when he allowed just three hits with no walks while striking out eight in an eight-inning, complete game shutout victory over Southwestern. Completing his historic career, Franz became the program's all-time lead in strikeouts (297) and innings pitched (332.1).
