Senior Nick Haynes of the men’s basketball team is the 14th Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2012-13 academic year. He is earning the award for the third time of his career after helping the Tornados win their first two American Southwest Conference games by an average margin of 35 points.
Haynes averaged a team-leading 18 points to go along with 3.5 assists in convincing victories over LeTourneau and Ozarks. He also shot 59.1 percent (13-for-22) from the field as well as 50 percent (6-for-12) from downtown. By netting 18 points in 13 minutes of action, he helped Concordia set a school record for most points against an ASC opponent (129).
A marketing major from Irving, Texas, Haynes is the son of Keith and Angela Haynes. He has one sister, Erica, and one brother, Marquez.
