Freshman Jack Cersosimo of the men’s golf team is the 28th Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2011-12 academic year after leading his team to a third-place finish, which matched a school record, among 16 competing groups at the Texas Lutheran Intercollegiate Invitational.
Cersosimo fired a 1-over-par score of 145, shooting a 74 in the first round and a 71 in the second to win the individual crown at the TLU Invitational in Blanco at the Vaaler Creek Golf Club. He became the second golfer and first freshman in program history to win a tournament while leading the Tornados to a third-place team finish, which matched a school record.
Cersosimo, a native of Austin, is the son of Rebecca and Jay Cersosimo. He has one brother, Nick.
