1/6/2014 7:30:00 PM

AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas men's basketball team will conclude its four-game road trip and look to improve on its five-game winning streak on Tuesday night when it faces I-35 rival Mary Hardin-Baylor. The American Southwest Conference (ASC) tilt is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.

ABOUT CONCORDIA TEXAS
The Tornados (8-2, 5-2 ASC) brings its season-long winning streak into Tuesday's rematch with UMHB. Concordia Texas has won its last three games on the road, including an 88-78 overtime win at East Texas Baptist last Saturday. The Tornados are the ASC's most explosive offensive squad, averaging 93.4 points per game. Concordia also leads the circuit in assists per game (17.7), turnover margin (+4.0) and assist to turnover ratio (1.2). Additionally, CTX ranks second in the conference in free throw (.751) and field goal (.457) percentages.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Senior forward Dwayne Patterson (21.2) and junior guard Josh Sanchez (21.1) rank first and second in the ASC in scoring average.
• Patterson captured the lead over Sanchez following a near triple-double performance in last Saturday's game at East Texas Baptist. The Long Beach, Calif., native paced the Tornados with 22 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists in the overtime victory against the Tigers.
• Patterson also ranked second in the league in rebounds (9.5) and steals (2.4) per game and ninth in assists per contest (3.9).
• Sanchez sits in third in the ASC in assists per game (4.7), one spot behind senior guard Jonathan Garza (5.1), and the Houston native leads the circuit with an average of 2.6 made 3-pointers per outing.
• Junior forward Brett DeMetrotion, who averages 11.7 points per game, is the league leader in field goal percentage (.690).

ABOUT MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR
The Cru (6-4, 4-3 ASC) enters the mid-week affair on a three-game winning streak. Mary Hardin-Baylor started the streak on Dec. 21 with a 74-59 win at Mississippi College. The squad carried the momentum into the new year with a 67-44 drubbing of East Texas Baptist last Thursday and a 77-67 win at LeTourneau two days later. UMHB ranks ninth in the ASC with 71 points per game, but the squad's defensive efforts have limited opponents to only an average of 65.5 points per outing – good for second in the conference. James Allen is the team's leading scorer at 18.3 points per game, and he sits behind only CTX's Patterson and Sanchez in the league scoring race.
