BOX SCORE RICHARDSON, Texas --
Despite 52 points off the bench including a team-high 13 from Dervyn Baines and 10 points apeice from Clay Marley and Demarco Richardson, the Concordia men's basketball team (2-1) was unable to overcome a 20-point UT Dallas (2-0) lead at the UTD Activity Center, falling by 93-76 tally in a rare non-conference meeting between the ASC foes.
Baines also had a game-high 10 rebounds to become the third different Tornado in as many contests to record a double-double.
UT Dallas shot 50.8 percent from the field for the game (31-for-61) and held Concordia to just 39.1 percent (25-for-64).
Concordia led 26-22 with 6:36 remaining in the first half. After that, UT Dallas outscored the Tornados 22-10 over the closing minutes of the opening stanza to go into the break leading 44-36. The Comets' momentum continued into the second half as they opened up a 20-point advantage over the first six minutes of the period. The hosts held a double-digit for nearly the entire second half.
Five UT Dallas players ended the night in double-figures, including Kyle Coulter's game-high 17 points.
The Tornados' next contest will be Dec. 2 against rival Southwestern at 7 p.m. Austin-based nonprofit Water to Thrive will have a fundraiser at the game. It is also the first for fans to bring non-perishable food items for Concordia's
SAAC-sponsored canned food drive to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas.
