The Pioneers are the only WIAC team still searching for its first league victory, but two of the three losses came by one point in overtime decisions. Seniors Nick Allen and Eric Wall have led the squad so far this season and are among four players who are scoring in double figures. Allen averages 15.3 points and 3.1 assists, both team highs, while Wall adds 10.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. Senior forward Joe Allen (13.4 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.0 bpg) and freshman forward Chas Cross (10.7 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 0.8 bpg) have also made significant contributions. The Beloit men's squad (3-4, MWC 2-2), which was predicted to finish fourth among 10 schools in the Midwest Conference Preseason Poll, heads into the tournament on a two-game winning streak which began with a 62-50 victory over then-No. 6 St. Norbert. The Buccaneers, who only lost three players to graduation, are led by a pair of junior forwards who were honorably mentioned for all-conference honors last season in David Bremner and Travis Towns. Bremner leads the team in practically every major statistical category, including points (16.0 pg), rebounds (5.3 pg), steals (0.8 pg) and blocked shots (0.7 pg). Towns accounts for 11.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Michael Horton, the team's floor general, ranks third in the Midwest Conference in assists per game (5.3) and has an impressive 3.1 assist/turnover ratio.
Goucher's women's team (0-7, Landmark 0-1), which was tabbed seventh among eight schools in the Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, enters the tournament in search of its first win. The Kohawks are led by senior forward Kayla Lincoln and junior guard Kayla Waskow, who were each named to the all-conference first team last season. Lincoln ranks first on the team in scoring (12.4 pg), rebounding (5.4 pg) and blocked shots (1.3 pg), while Waskow has contributed 10.1 points per contest. The Yellow Jackets, who won the national title in 2008, have utilized a balanced attack paced by senior guard Katy Sarem, who was honorably mentioned for all-conference honors last season, and junior guard Brittany Roberson. Sarem scores at a team-best 13.7 clip, while Roberson averages 10.2 points and leads the squad with 3.1 assists per game.
