The Concordia women (3-6, ASC 2-4) have dropped four of their last five games while playing through a brutal schedule and find themselves tied for fifth place in the American Southwest Conference West Division standings. During the five-game stretch, the Tornados have played four teams with winning records, three squads either ranked or receiving votes in the national polls and two who are still undefeated this season. Concordia, which most recently suffered a 60-51 road loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor, are being led by several junior transfers and a returning sophomore. Shamika Singleton, who has four double-doubles this season, ranks first on the team in scoring (15.4 pg), rebounding (9.0 pg) and blocked shots (0.4 pg). She is also second on the squad in steals (2.1). Junior guard Dominique Mayberry averages 9.6 points while adding 2.9 assists and 2.0 steals per contest. Sophomore guard Margaret Milling has been a spark off the bench, ranking fifth in the league in steals (2.3 pg).

The Concordia men's team (6-4, ASC 4-2) has won three of its last four games and finds itself in a four-way tie for first place in the ASC West Division standings after most recently earning their first victory in the last 17 tries against Mary Hardin-Baylor, 89-85, on Monday evening. The Tornados rallied from 20 points down in the second half to pull out the road win. Senior guard Justin Reefer has registered a double-double in the last two games and contributes 6.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He also leads the conference in offensive rebounding (4.6 pg). Sophomore guard Tayler Jacobs continues to perform well as the team's floor general, ranking second in the league in assists per game (4.1) and third in free throw percentage (.900). He also averages 12.1 points, which ranks second on the team. Nick Haynes, another sophomore guard, scores at a team-leading 12.6 clip, while Collin Perkins is ranked second in the ASC in blocked shots (2.3). Josh Johnson has been a big spark off the bench, netting a career-best 25 points in the win over the Cru earlier this week.

The Texas-Dallas women (10-2, ASC 6-1), which were predicted to finish third in the ASC East Division, opened the 2010-11 season on a nine-game winning streak before dropping two of its last three contests. The Comets, who have made four straight ASC Tournament appearances and have received votes in the WBCA national poll, are paced by senior forward Tarneisha Scott. She ranks first in the league in scoring (17.4 ppg) and fifth in rebounding (8.9 pg). Junior guard Lyndsey Smith and senior guard Tawni Ichimura are also making significant contributions. Smith, who was the ASC East Division Freshman of the Year in 2008-09, averages 14.7 points, 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while Ichiura adds 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and a team-leading 3.1 assists.

The Texas-Dallas men's squad (8-3, ASC 5-2), which was almost unanimously picked to win the ASC East Division and has been ranked as high as 23rd nationally by d3hoops.com, is once again in the running to host the league tournament. The Comets, who advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 last season and the Elite Eight in 2008-09, are paced by junior forward Chris Barnes. Ozarks' women's team (7-5, ASC 3-4), which was picked to finish sixth in the ASC East Division, has been up and down all season long. The Eagles were most recently upset by Ecclesia, 52-50, on Monday night after defeating the same opponent by 28 points in their season opener. Leading the way for the squad so far has been Sabrina Goddard. The junior center averages 15.6 points per game and leads the league in blocked shots, averaging 3.8 a contest. Sophomore guard Chelsea Glasscock is fourth in the ASC in assists per game (3.2) and scores at an 8.2 clip, while junior guard April Young adds 10.2 points and 3.0 assists for the Eagles, who defeated Texas-Dallas by a 69-60 decision earlier in the year.
