Eddie Diaz de Leon is Concordia’s Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the first time this year after helping the ninth-seeded men’s golf team place sixth as a squad at the American Southwest Conference Men’s Golf Championships.
Diaz de Leon, who led the entire field through two rounds, placed third overall at the championship event at Horseshoe Bay by firing a 10-over par score of 226 (71-76-79) over the par-72, 6,771-yard course. The sophomore became Concordia’s first student-athlete in any men’s sport in the academic year to garner All-ASC First Team laurels for his efforts.
A business major from Keller, Texas, Diaz de Leon is the son of Eddie and Gabby Diaz de Leon. He has one brother, Mike (18), and one sister, Deandra (15).
